Well...today's two-show day went quite well! We took pictures in between the shows and pizzas were brought in for everyone!! The audience for the 2:00 matinee was a little sedate, but appreciative at the bows. The evening audience was a little more vocal. My sister, her boyfriend and my niece were all able to come to the 8:00 show. Her power came on at 3:00 pm Sunday.

There was one major flub during the 8:00 show! Dennis, the guy playing Mr. Mills the lawyer, didn't enter at the last big scene where we have the one really big song! He has a couple of lines and then he starts singing "Hang the bastard, hang him high..." and then the song goes on from there...but he never showed up! There was about a ten second moment of everyone knowing that Dennis wasn't there and what can we do?? I think that one of the guys playing the trappers said something to me and I just started singing his opening lines and we went on from there. Before that, I was despirately trying to think of his spoken lines, but I had no clew! I didn't normally start singing until the whole chorus comes in on the song, four lines in, so I never paid attention to what he was actually saying. Anyway, the song got started and then Dennis just saunters in, like he doesn't have a care in the world. Evidently, he was chatting with Kim, who plays Liane the horse, and didn't realize what was going on.

I'm sure that the audience noticed something, but I don't think that it ruined the show for anyone at all.

Good morning, al! I have a trek to the Lower East Side this morning to purchase some giftwrap supplies, after which I shall wrap my family's gifts, work on my libretto report, and hopefully visit - and perhaps see DREAMGIRLS - with our E&T DR Jose, a day crammed with incident.

Beyond that, I shall spend the day wailing and raging that I am not at the recording sessions for The Brain.

DR Tomovoz, I love the Windy City London cast recording, too!

TOD - where to start?

I like a LOT of the music on the Valley of the Dolls soundtrack - although none of it (save Tony Scotti's track) is sung by the people in the movie. Even Dionne's title track is re-done by Dory Previn. But I like the score and the scoring.

An obscure Elmer Bernstein LP - the soundtrack to a movie titled Where's Jack? with a title tune by Bernstein and Don Black sung by Mary Hopkin. And True Grit, another Bernstein score that just soars!

That will get me started.

Good Morning, All! Happy Birthday to PennyO. Many Happy Birthdyas over the last few weeks, I hope.

Three cast albums that I have loved for some time are:

TENDERLOIN
HIGH SPIRITS
GOLDILOCKS

All wonderful and yet not great hits nor greatly revived. This surprises me most I think with HIGH SPIRITS which has a good back and a nice score. On e of the songs is dated, but the rest hold up well.

I have been rooting for Yul since the first week, and there was a period when I thought Ozzie ought to be targeted for a very special "the tribe has spoken" moment.

BUT...in the past few weeks, I gained a great respect for Ozzie and he became my favorite player.

I'm jiggy with the outcome of the show, however. Yul rules!
