Like DR S. Woody, my mother was very reluctant to share recipes with me. She taught me a few things in the kitchen and a few basic sewing things (buttons). But I think she though my learning these things might prevent me from looking for a wife, though why it's HER job to know these things, I don't know. Well, my mother was from that very gender specific generation that lived through the depression.

Anyway, her prize confection, cocoanut cake, she never sahred the recipe with me and went to her grave with the secret of its lusciousness.

Well, if you are looking for any recipe in particular, I have a feeling someone on this site will have one, it may not be just like mom's but it will undoubtedly be good

But with cats like Tomovoz, Matt and myself, who else do you need, dear Cillaliz?

Yeah, but the only cat who Knows Where It's At is from Paree! Mais oui! :)

My mom rarely used her recipes. She just knew how to throw things together and viola!  I spent many hours in the kitchen watching her and that has helped me considerably in my cooking abilities.  Of course I am a girl, and I realize that made a difference in attitudes back then.  I don't think my brother watched her cook much although he is a good cook

My mother was a very good pie maker.  Her specialties were lemon merangue

As DR DerBrucer would correct... it's "meringue!"

Glacée or not, I don't care for meringue! (In case someone asks you! ;))

They are now advertising the "Bust Free Bra"  If you don't have a bust, why do you need a bra?

This being my day off, I have spent most of it catching up on my sleep.  The dogs have spent most of it using me as a pillow.

Der Brucer, being thoughtful, removed a leg of lamb from our freezer to thaw.

The catch is, it's still hard as a rock.

The leg of lamb may have to wait until tomorrow to be consumed.

 :-\

That reminds me of a Hitchcock TV movie! With Vera Miles, I believe!

And with that revelation, I shall depart the Board until much "laters".

I miss DR Jose.

Remember, you're a Cher Man of this Board, and Sony never had anything to do with it!

(Cher as in "Dear", bien sûr!)

DR FJL, maybe you and Skip should get some rubber dart guns (the kind you have when you're a little kid) watch that Airport reality show and shoot the rubber darts at the TV.   I did that after a certain election about 6 years ago. It was quite theraputic and caused no one any harm
