Question for Ask BK Day - I'm confused by the actions of some other theater-related record labels to delay releases of CD's. Surely there is some business reason for doing so, but I can't figure it out - unless maybe the delay creates some sort of demand for the CD that results in extra sales once the CD is finally released? Otherwise, why does it take so long for these otehr labels? Do you have any thoughts on this?
I presume you're speaking of JAY - I have no idea why Mr. Yap does what he does - he's sitting on unreleased CDs for five years ago (some even further back). Yet he keeps on recording new ones to join the pile. Not my way of doing things - do 'em, get 'em out. I also have the feeling that because he's not from here that he's somehow not paying AFTRA rates to the actors, and I find that infuriating, if true, as I could never get away with that. Because IF he's paying AFTRA rates Busker Alley, despite using just a piano, would be hugely expensive. I really wish I could find out how he's getting away with what he's getting away with because the rest of us would like to get away with it, too.
