Hurray for the lifting of some of the carry-on restrictions!
I was going to have to check my bag for a mere three-day trip to Ottawa -- which would have added at least a half hour, probably more, on either end of the trip to retrieve my luggage.

Re Ellen Burstyn (nee Edna Gilhooley - yeah, I'd change that one, too) - Years ago I was at a Brugh Joy weekend retreat at Asilomar in Monterey. Burstyn, an old friend of Brugh's, was there. it was a really memorable time - but what stands out most in my mind is a gathering at the end of the weekend at which Burstyn read a poem --  The Invocation to Kali by May Sarton. It was one of the most beautiful readings of a poetry I've ever heard in my life.

Good Afternoon!

...And then there are those theatre companies who hold a "Wandelprobe".  Sometimes it's a better alternative - it allows the actors to go through their blocking in stage, thus allowing the conductor and the actors find places where they might need to adjust the blocking in order to keep the lines of communication open.  It's all about sightlines.  Also, a wandelprobe can also be used to give the sound department an initial try at the mic-ing set-up.  However, if you're really lucky - and the budget allows for such things - you will both a sitzprobe and a wandelprobe.

And then there's the time I was in a show (Amadeus) and instead of what should've been the first read-through, we had a "wander-through."  We read the script and wandered through the staging that was in the script. :P That was not a pleasant show experience...for many reasons.

All this talk about NY makes me feel a bit sad.  I have had to postpone my visit. It just seemed one obstacle after another was making this trip more and more difficult.  Most of all, I should really wait until I my friend in Pennsylvania is feeling up to a proper visit.

Congrats on the new member of the family, Jane and Keith!!

I too slept on the floor (well, on a futon on the floor) beside Abie - now a mature gentleman of 4 - when he first arrived home from the Boulder Humane Society at 8 weeks of age. He slept half in his crate, half snuggled beside me. For two nights I got up every couple of hours to let him out. Same schedule of going out - especially after playing - during the day. And that was it - never had an accident after that. The initial sleepless nights and hard work pays off bigtime. Again - congrats!

Hi Jose, guess I’ll miss your show in DC.  For now my new appointment is April 2nd, unless I can go sooner.

MBarnum and Danise, I’m working on the photos.

DRLaura, your photo is beautiful.

Pardon me, but i have to back to Saturdays posts to see if Jane got the new addition to the family!  I'm hoping to spot some pictures!

Would any of those be Saturday Evening Posts?

If so, would any of the pictures be by Norman Rockwell?

Thanks Maria.  It would have been nice to begin this process well rested, not after a long trip with
sleepless nights.   ;D

Sherlock is napping right now, wish I could join him.  Instead I must go grocery shopping after a day spent doing laundry.

We really adore him. :D

"Someone" seems to forget that he did, in fact, change the battery in his smoke dectector during the wee hours (and since they are all on the same circuit, if one goes off, all go off!)

der Brucer
Ah, but after that "someone" changed the battery in the smoke detector in his room during the wee hours, the alarm continued to go to the wacky side.  So, unless all the batteries get changed, "someone" and "somebody else" won't know whether the batteries are the problem or not.

Gee! Sometime during the day, I became a "Full Member"!

So why am I still hungry?

(Wondering whether DR's Derbrucer or Elmore will be the first to make a comment about a "full member")

Sherlock....Heel!

Joe Allen--I think I may have eaten there a time.  Or two!  ;)

I love Joe Allen, too, I always go there with a NY editor friend from Atlanta, John Allen. He probably feels a certain kinship...

Is Sherlock giving Keith a lick, or pulling on Keith's cap?

And the size of his paws!!!    :o

(Sherlock's.  I think Keith has already grown into his.    ;))

I'm jealous!
