Good morning and Happy 2006 to y'all!

I was briefly awakened at midnight, by a phone call coming in on my sister's phone from her son, hollering "Happy New Year, Mom!!" Then I drifted back into slumber, and lo, when I awoke, it's Next Year!

Resolutions, huh? Well, a couple of weeks ago I resolved to fully remember how and why, above all, WHY I came to Showbiz in the first place, back when I was a pre-schooler... it was just so much FUN, so completely absorbing, it was so much MY DHARMA. All the way through school and into the actual BIZ. Then, somehow, the joy took a back seat to the mishegas, abandon was abandoned for worry and sturm und drang; the auditions were hell.

So each day I use some time to think of what's great and wonderful and, yes, sacred about life in The Theater. Just thinking about it makes me so glad, takes me back to my earliest experience of it. And, I'll be go-ta-hell if it doesn't WORK!!! And I DID do a couple of auditions in the last 2 weeks, and it WAS great and wonderful and yes, sacred. So, it's true: what we focus on becomes our reality, grows stronger.

I may even take BK's musical theater workshop...

I do hope our esteemed BK gets that leopard-spotted dickie to the dry cleaners soon.  I just hate thinking of him as a "marked" man.

Remember, no groaning here at HHW.   ;D

Just popped in to see New Year's greetings from others. I'm also downloading updates to TurboTax. Yes, I'm going to try to do my own taxes this year.

How's this for a resolution: I hereby resolve to do as many favors for my co-workers as I can, so as to make them think that they might owe me favors in return someday.  I also resolve not to cash in on those favors until I can get something really big and selfish for myself.

No, strike all that.  Try again.

I hereby resolve to do as many favors for my co-workers as I can, because it feels good to do them.

Much better.

If our beloved DR PennyO is going off her diet, why would she want to share?

Just curious.

I do not make resolutions for New Years.  Somehow that can only lead to disappointment.  I do have a few New Years  expectations.  One of which is to get back to a regular exercise routine and lose much excess weight.  This will be made easier by the fact that we have a beautiful natural area to walk in.  It will be great to walk around the lake and commune with the deer.  In the new house, we also have a room where we can keep all the exercise equipment always set up.

Also, now that I am out of the Hollywood gristmill, I plan to write more vigourously and write more for me...write the things I want, the way I want to do them.

I also want to explore taking an active role in the theatre here in town.

I have returned! I miss Dublin and Cardiff but I am secure in the knowledge that we had a glorious vacation and I am a richer person for it.

So much on which to catch up (how's that for not ending a sentence with a preposition). It will take a few days but I will read and read and read some more.

No NY (that's New Year, not New York) resolutions for me.

I will return. I may be spotted up top but I'm probably just reading old posts so I'm not really here, I guess.

Oh, and another resolution: STOP DIETING!!

Now that's a resolution I might be able to sustain!

When we visited DR JRand's sister's bookstore a few weeks ago, I bought a book titled The Difference a Day Makes:  365 Ways to Change Your World in Just 24 Hours.  My goal is to read each day's entry, starting today, and try in some way to act upon the idea.  Today is "Un-Litter the Land," in which the author suggests picking up what others have carelessly discarded in a local park or playground.  I'm going to apply that here at home and pick up what I and the others who live here have carelessly discarded (or misplaced).

Um... about that cheesecake: If the piece is BIG enough, or if they would bring me the whole cake, I'm so happy to share MY piece... otherwise, i understand Elmore's post to mean we would be sharing the experience of cheesecake at Artie's - but not necessarily the actual portion... yes, he has seen me EAT!!!

The No-Dieting resolution may be the hardest one for me to keep, after more than 4 decades... but in my experience, "thin" equals "young" in the theatah... and - silver-haired or not - I may STILL not be considered for roles in my age range if I appear too slender and "perky". oy... would 5 pounds really make all that much difference? oy...

Oh, she's panicking... Orloff is up to 118 pounds after a month of Festive Foods...

I blame Jane, and the tin of fudge she sent to BK's partay... I blame BK's spaghetti and tuna macaroni... well, and the birthday cake and the toffee and the ice cream and the or-derves made with puff pastry and creme fraiche and the pound of brie and the Starbuck's mocha frappacino's and the wads o' bread at every friggin meal...
