HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK BAKALOR!  Have a beautiful day.

George did you see the original Cruise interview on Oprah?  I didn’t.

Elmore have a good trip.  I will miss you. :(

Aw, shucks, Nursie!  My traveling companion and able assistant just emailed me that one of Cora's boys he's been rehearsing for the Ravinia Festival's ANYONE CAN WHISTLE next month was found shot in the head yesterday in Chicago; what a terrible story!  I fear he may be traveling in a depression tomorrow.

That's horrible news, DR elmore.  I know some of the people involved with that production... Guess I need to make some phone calls...

It occurs to me that DR Jed was probably exposed to his current "bug" via the same source as BK's....TYPHOID ANNIE!

(just teasing, Ann)!

D-t-M, sounds like a plan! Glad you enjoyed Spamalot. I thought the Jews on Broadway number really let DHP shine.

I think you'll enjoy DRS also. I loved the show and laughed heartily.

Yes, it was an unpleasantly warm day on Saturday. Yuck!!!

Elmore, how depressing  :(

Ben carnations are just about my least favorite flower.

Vixmom the flowers are beautiful.  I’m very fond of both tulips and roses.
Is the Black Think still visiting you?

It's nearly lunchtime...and it's not going to be the "event" yesterday's was.

I suppose I'll get through it all the same.

Just got the Footlight order.  Also substantial for ATB, and decent for GH.  I actually just had to up the pressing for ATB.

I saw a clip of it on the Internet, but not the whole thing.  I totally forgot about the Today Show interview(s) with TC and Matt Lauer.  I guess he's just as weird with Matt as he was with Oprah. :o

Happy Birthday to Mr. Bakalor.

So sorry to hear about your friend, Elmore.

I'm surprised no one has posted photos of their gardens yet. I, for one, would love to see some!

In any case...

I'm taking of some stuff here right now - cleaning, laundry, mail, e-mails, etc. - and then it looks like I'll be venturing back down to Richmond tonight so that I can pull some boxes out of my storage unit tomorrow morning.  And then I will sort through those boxes o' stuff over the next few days, then head back down Sunday and repeat the process.  -And spend 4th of July down there with some friends.  Then, most likely, one more trip down and back next week... And then... New York City!

*I've just been realizing that I have to do something with all those boxes o' stuff before I head up to New York City.  I just can't have them pulling me back to Richmond so to speak.  And I don't want to bring them up there either.  If I end up just throwing out a few boxes o' stuff over the next couple of days, well, so be it...

**And, yes, DR elmore, I still do plan on joining you at the LoC on Thursday and/or Friday. If not to help with the research, at least to dish.  ;)

Yes, DR Stuart, QUEER AS FOLK has always been and has remained after fif seasons a decidedly guilty pleasure and an addiction. Even when I don't like some of the storylines or when I think the writing is the cheesiest and lamest it can be, I still wouldn't dare miss an episode, and I have dutifully bought every season on DVD. I will be sorry to see it end after this current (5th) season.

Puttering, puttering, puttering...

With the news that The Mambo Kings musical will not be headed to Broadway, I just have to wonder...

Was anyone - at least here on HHW - looking forward to this show?

Actually Cruise on TODAY was not at all like Cruise on Oprah. On Oprah, he was a monkey, jumping all over the furniture, howling like a howler monkey, pumping his arms in the air, and acting like any 40 year old pre-adolescent should act.

On TODAY, he has been close to belligerent and antagonistic with Matt Lauer (who had the audacity to LIGHTLY challenge some of his statements). In fact, after the first part of the interview aired, Al Roker said that he found Cruise rude.

BTW, I've read all of this off the internet and in other entertainment coverage. I don't watch OPRAH or THE TODAY SHOW, so someone who has personally seen it might have more details.

Currently drinking a can of Coca-Cola Zero...

Hmmm...

I went ahead and checked out the Coke Zero website - www.cokezero.com - and I'm still a bit "puzzled".

I believe it was DR TCB who mentioned that Coke Zero has Less Calories, and Less Taste.  I have to agree.

It's not bad, just not good.

And from the press release and some of promotional items, it seems like they're trying to make this the Diet Coke for "today's generation".  However, the press release did state the main difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke is the combination of artificial sweeteners used.  And that Coke Zero is just Coca-Cola flavor and nothing else.  Hmmm...

I think it was DR Matt H who thought it tasted like Tab.  I guess it does.  However, I think it also tastes a bit like Red Bull - which may be the not-so-hidden taste hook for the product.

In any case...

Why do I care?!?!??!

And speaking of roses...my mom's name is Rosemarie (one word) and my ex-boyfriend, who is from Pakistan of Turkish descent, his name is Gul (pronounced as, but doesn't mean "ghoul"), which is Turkish for "rose."  What a coinkydink!

Garden?  In this rain?

Thunder and lightning!

It seems to be drifting away for the moment, however.

Favorite flowers?  The little blossoms on rosemary bushes, such a pretty lavender color.  Chive blossoms are pretty, too.

I spent an astonishing afternoon with the DVD of SLEEPING BEAUTY today. When I first got the DVD and watched it on my old set, I was pleased with the sharpness and color but hardly blown away. Today, on the new set and with microdisplay TV's ability to punch colors without making them bleed, I was floored by it. It looking astounding. I was so impressed that I ran it again with the audio commentary on just to reveal in the picture with a different soundtrack to listen to. I can't wait to try ALICE IN WONDERLAND tomorrow.

Yep, I said that with my first few tastes, but after having drunk two liters of it, I know I won't be having any more. The more of it I drank, the less it tasted like watered-down TAB and more like just a bland diet soda. My grocery store's store brand is infinitely superior to this stuff.

I've never tasted Red Bull, so I can't comment on that, but in general I found Coke Zero to be a zero.

Another thing that knocked me out this time about SLEEPING BEAUTY was the intricacy of the backgrounds. The cracks and crannies on the stone walls were SO detailed, and I loved how moss colors and other things were added to give the walls texture.

I remember the late critic Gene Siskel (whom I never thought much of as a reviewer) commenting that he didn't much care for SLEEPING BEAUTY because the animation looked so flat. What movie did he watch? It's probably the most densely packed animated movie ever made in terms of detailed backgrounds and numerous planes of vision.
