Had a wonderful second rehearsal, which, like the e-mail this morning, just reminds me that the world is a very positive place most of the time and I do my damnedest to be be positive in it.

BK that was a wonderful fan letter.  I had a similar response to the Kritzer trilogy

Well, I need to leave now.  Animal Fire Theatre is putting on "Two Gentlemen of Verona" and they're performing in the park right across the street from my condo complex!  I know most of the people in the cast, so I am going to see it.  But I have to go home first and bring my own chair.

Be back later!

I'm home and have eaten.  "TGoV" was very good, and even though it was held outside, the weather was great and the actors could be heard.  That's ALWAYS a good thing.  There was some outside noise, but nothing horribly loud or obnoxious.

Listening to Ormandy have his way with the Mahler 10, the performing version by Derek Cooke.  Never heard better and I have them all.  I also watched the first part of a DVD that has Ormandy having his way with The Firebird and then the Rachmaninov Symphony 2 - the minute The Firebird began I remembered why I fell in love with his reading of it when I was but an early teen - it puts the Stravinsky-conducted version and that orchestra to shame.  This DVD performance is from 1977 - that Philadelphia Orchestra sound is simply amazing and there's a lovely interview with Ormandy talking about his friendship with Rachmaninov.

And the word of the day is: OROTUND!

MOVIE OF THE DAY

It is a shame that so many articles regarding the passing of James Shigeta are headlined "DIE HARD ACTOR DIES."  His career was so much more than his performance in that one movie.  I truly enjoyed his work and I was deeply saddened by his passing.

What I learned this evening from my Roadrunner home page.  My favorite pasta dish at The Cheesecake Factory, farfalle with chicken and roasted garlic clocks in at a whopping 2500 calories!  I'm really not sure how that can be - how much cream sauce is there really?  The chicken is nothing, its maybe 8 oz. of pasta - something's screwy somewhere.

I apologize for not posting much today.  I did read the notes (of course) and I have read all the posts; but I have had kind of a depressing day.  Oh well. tomorrow is another day.
