Dinner was lovelier than lovely. I was very concerned about the caloric content, but it was not so bad at all - we had a little steak with sauteed onions and mushrooms. some red potatoes, baked, with a tiny bit of olive oil on them (excellent!), and some vegetables, plus a little salad with very light dressing. No bread or rolls. So, nothing really terrible. For dessert, she served root beer floats - one scoop of vanilla ice cream in A&W root beer. It was quite good and a lot better, calorie-wise, than if she'd made one of her usual pies or cakes.
