I am now watching The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, which I had never seen for some reason. I’m liking the cast more than the movie.

I've never seen the movie or read the book, but I enjoyed the musical by Alan Menken and David Spencer.

Yes, cabaret venues have yearly licenses with ASCAP and BMI and so all cabaret performances are covered by those licenses.
