Well, you've read the notes, the notes were said and done, and now it is time for you to post until the said and done cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: KINDRED!
-
"When All Is Said and Done (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUh4u-lYEhM)" is one of my favorite ABBA songs! :D
-
And THIS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVLBcmnSQeE) cover by Nils Landgren Funk Unit is my favorite cover version. Who knew that it makes a great ballad?
-
Well, this is cool...tonight, I'm working concessions for a drive-in movie! The Port of Olympia is having the second of two Movies at the Marina (https://portolympia.com/485/Movies-at-the-Marina). Two weeks ago, they showed Trolls 2 (it was supposed to be the first movie, but I guess they got the wrong one). And then last Friday, they were supposed to show the original 1993 Jurassic Park, but they had to postpone because of the weather, so they're showing it tonight. It's free, but reservations were required and it's fully booked!
-
I was told that concessions is all prepackaged snacks and sodas, so that makes it easy (and safe). The movie starts at 9:00, the pre-show (whatever that will be) starts at 8:15, and my call time is 7:00. We do have to bring our own masks, but I have plenty of those.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, thanks for the ClipGrab tip! I had no idea that acquiring an mp3 file was so easy.
-
I am so much happier with the clean bathroom. Accomplishing that yesterday was getting an albatross off my neck and I'm sure I will find something else to obsess and fret over.
-
When I make the bed this morning, I need to get under it and pull all the bottles of drugs and nose spray that Stella has knocked off my night stand over the past weeks. Then I need to organize the drawer in which I keep my meds and other paraphernalia.
-
DR Jeanne, Kimberly Guilfoyle was on the Fox News group of misinformation; she was sacked for behavior, like displaying photos of her latest boyfriend's rubber parts and talking about her sex life. There seems to be some intimation she was great on the casting couch approach to employment, and one source for the new book Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth says her actions in landing Donny Jr. were desperate.
-
I may make a vat of chili today. I really want to make lasagna, but there are too many ingredients I can't afford to purchase this week, and since I have the ground beef and pork and the other chili ingredients, I'm content with that.
-
You want to know what I really hate about the new Facebook? Birthdays are no longer displayed on my home page, and I need to go to Events to find them.
-
TOD
Humphrey Bogart
The African Queen
The Maltese Falcon
Jennifer Jones
The Song of Bernadette
Madame Bovary
-
Just a reminder.
-
Good morning, all.
-
BK, you forgot to mention that your close, personal friend, Mr. Stephen Sondheim, worked on Beat the Devil.
-
Good morning!
-
Last night, Jacqueline Du Pre’s sad story was mentioned. It was the basis of an odd, exceptionally well-acted movie called Hilary and Jackie. Her art was sidestepped in favor of the soap opera aspects of her life, but the actresses, Emily Watson and Rachel Griffiths, were superb.
-
Good morning.
-
The air quality here is so bad that I've skipped my morning walk all week. There are several wildfires around. That's so unusual for us in August, because it always rains during our monsoon in July and August. We had only one rain just last week, and that storm ignited several fires.
-
Good morning, all.
-
When all is said and done, I haven’t gotten my ASS out of this recliner in the past hour and a half.
-
But that ends now, as there are things to do.
-
They need doing, and I must do them.
-
Soon.
-
Yep. Pretty soon now.
-
So now we're supposed to expect more severe thunderstorm activity this afternoon and evening. Lordy.
-
I liked it when Richard Chamberlain played DR KINDRED on tv.
-
Again thanks to all for the birthday wishes yesterday and to MR BK for the nice shout out in the notes.
-
PAGE TWO.
I am late because I was sent the last three interviews that have been through partial post production.
And of course I was also sent an UPDATED donor list that I had to convert from Word to PDF and then to JPEG so that I could then turn into slideshow to add to the interviews.
My interview is a lot of fun....for me anyway.....but I wore the wrong shirt.....I look like a blob....a BIG blob....but that's okay.....
Slideshow is created and will soon be on its way to post production.....
-
TOD:
Bogart:
Sabrina
Casablanca
The African Queen
Jones:
Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing
The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit
Madame Bovary
A Portrait of Jenny
-
I don't feel any older today......but then again....I'm old enough now to do anything that I want to do.
-

I am sorry it is so bad there.

DR TCB I did not intentionally leave last night. I fell asleep. Then I actually stayed asleep until 6:30 this morning. :o
-
Again thanks to all for the birthday wishes yesterday and to MR BK for the nice shout out in the notes.
I do love your new avatar.
-
Maryanne, my wonderful neighbor on 5, helped me carry up 40 lbs of kitty litter, I put it away, started a recyclable bag which I will take to trhe basement after I've opened a few cans of tomatoes and tomato paste, lay down for a bit with Stella, and at 1:00 I'll begin chopping garlic and onion.
-
DR TCB have you discussed getting tested for Covid with your doctor?
-
Thursday afternoon greetings! I have just completed a DAR task and now I'm going to read some of The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote before tonight's discussion on Zoom.
-
Jones:
Cluny Brown
Bogart:
Yes.
-
I'm up, I'm up - have no idea how much sleep - maybe four hours overall, maybe three. Remember the part about I'm already regretting ordering food late last night. Well, I was correct to regret it, should never have done it, and paid the price with an upset tummy almost instantly after I ate.
-
And still have it.
-
Mostly because of some spice that didn't sit well.
-
You want to know what I really hate about the new Facebook? Birthdays are no longer displayed on my home page, and I need to go to Events to find them.
As they come up, they show in my notifications, so at least there's that.
-
When all is said and done, I haven’t gotten my ASS out of this recliner in the past hour and a half.
Good for you! ;)
-

Yes, I do have some of my own, but I actually didn't think about bringing it. Just before the Washington Center closed, they provided rubber gloves (they've had hand sanitizer around the Center for a few years), so I wonder if those will be provided again.
-
The chili has turned out rather well, and I think it will be the basis for a tasty dinner.
-
I didn't drag out the Big Ladder so I have two chores for tomorrow: bring down some Fancy Feast whitefish & tuna and clean up the mess the cats made in aisle 2.
Annabelle seems to eat only fish these days, and the other two will eat whatever I set before them, and I absent-mindedly ordered cartons of Fancy Feast Whitefish & Tuna twice last month, so I've got 40+ cans to use up.
The other day I heard a crash and could not figure out what it was. It was a carton of large manila envelopes and a non-working computer keyboard that one of them - I suspect Annabelle - tossed down from a high shelf in the closet. To clean up the mess, I need to move those huge cushions I was sent as a post-surgery aid, pick up everything, and put it all back on the shelf.
-
Speaking of those cushions, I need to tote the one for my back and head to the basement and dump it. I like the one for my legs quite a lot.
-

No matter when I eat I have the same reaction. I try to eat dinner early so I feel painless enough by bedtime to sleep. If I eat late the pain is much worse.
-
And still have it.
Sorry.

That sound soooo disgusting ;D. I suspect Craig might like it as he seems to enjoy all things pickles.

I appreciate being thought of, DR Elmore!

Feel better vibes for everyone.
Vibes for former DR SINGDAW.

Can't find the post about Singdaw - what happened?
-
Went back to bed at noon and just awoke ten minutes ago - I assume I got at least seven hours all told but I seem to have missed the day.
-
Bruce I will email you the info to his blog.
-
So earlier today, I got a call from the WCPA volunteer coordinator, asking if I would mind switching to help with parking instead of concessions. She said that there really wasn't any concessions usage last time, so it would be helpful if I could move over, but okay if I didn't want to. I said that it was okay, so I have to leave work at about 5:30 instead of 6:30. Not a problem.

ASK BK DAY
I think i sort of know the answer, but what is the difference between an arranger and an orchestrator? And can they ever be done by the same person?
-
And now, I'm off to the drive-in! I don't know if I'm going to stay (or even be able to see the movie from where I'm supposed to park), so it'll be what it'll be.
Either way, I'll be back later.
-
Have a good evening.

ASK BK DAY
I think i sort of know the answer, but what is the difference between an arranger and an orchestrator? And can they ever be done by the same person?
The arranger figures out the routine of the song - in other words, the feel, the way it's done, perhaps coming up with a different kind of accompaniment, a new vamp, the way it ends, perhaps moving an intro verse to the middle of the song - in other words, they figure out they layout and how the song will be done, then if there's an orchestra, they'll usually hand it off. That's the way we did most of the Varese recordings - on many of them, I did the arrangements. But yes, the arranger can also be the orchestrator - Lanny has done that many times.

Hello, everyone.
-
It's time for some sleep, I think.
-
It was a busy day today.
-
So sorry to hear about Singdaw. Jane, could you send me the link? Thanks.
-
Tonight, I learned that a coworker's husband is being tested for COVID-19. He got a negative result, but the doctor thinks it's a false negative and has ordered another test.
-
One more ...
-
Four!
-
Good night, all.

Jennifer Jones is a name I heard many times growing up. At family gatherings my dad and my uncle, Ed Fitzgerald, would talk shop. Eddie was forever talking about how certain stars only wanted to be shot from a certain side. For some reason Jennifer Jones' name came up many times, too. Eddie would often call me that, a sort of nickname, which strikes me as strange now since Miss Jones was a brunette and I was then very blonde. I think I saw only one of her films and I can't even recall which one.
-
I am so much happier with the clean bathroom. Accomplishing that yesterday was getting an albatross off my neck and I'm sure I will find something else to obsess and fret over.
I often feel that way about cleaning. A couple years ago a military officer who served in Afghanistan wrote a piece for the NY Times, in which he said something like, "When there's chaos all around you, make your bed." I can really relate to that.
-

I didn't know any of this. She certainly got a lot of attention this week. David Brooks, the conservative columnist, has an opinion piece in today's NY Times about the "mean world" of Trump, and mentions how it can transform people. He then referred a 2004 Charlie Rose interview with her and then-husband Gavin Newsom, where she comes across completely differently from her Red Dress Speech (if you could call it a speech).

California could really, really, really, really use some rain right about now. Jrand, can you help with that?

Sorry to hear this. I think the doctor is right in retesting. Vibes for your co-worker and her husband.

Today I think the volume of bad news was getting me down. There's just so much of it!
I was talking with a friend the other day who has been living with an extremely difficult family situation for many years now. When we talk I have to guard against picking up her despair and depression. It won't help her at all, nor will it help me.
Vibes to us all for more GOOD NEWS!
-
Good night.
-
The Hilary and Jackie film is largely fiction. I found a beautiful ballet about Jacqueline last night - don't know how long it will be up but I just kind of loved it. It's called The Cellist. Here's a link: https://youtu.be/ycBFo4FEMQM
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Around five I drove to Jerry's Deli - got a turkey sandwich to bring home. It was excellent and that's IT for food today and I've got to be on that kind or regimen for weeks. I'm done with crazy eating for no reason. Last night was the straw that broke the Kimmel's back, I'm afraid. Jerry's now has wait staff from nine to four for outdoor dining, so I'll go have a breakfast there tomorrow morning to kill time.
-
we had a wild storm tonight
-
wind was howling around the house
-
the rain came down in buckets
-
Figuritely speaking

thunder rattled the windows

it sounded like the storm was directly overhead

the lights kept blinking and the router kept sounding its offline alarm

It seems to have moved on now

but its time for xlefpinf
-
what the heck?
-
sleeping. It's time for sleeping
-
I hope TCB is feeling better
-
Goodnight
-
sleep tight

Hi, George.

Jane, the link you sent me doesn't really take me to his blog nor does it have any reference to his blog - just a thing to fill out to search for a web page.
