Last night, I went to the Olympia Choral Society's Christmas concert.  It was really good.

They sang some songs a cappella, and some with piano accompaniment, and a couple with a brass quartet, who also peformed on their own.  I had heard that the theater (at North Thurston High School) holds 600.  It certainly looks like it.  It was pretty full and everyone really enjoyed the concert.  They got a standing ovation, and it wasn't inappropriate. :)

Very early on a Sunday, but I have to get outside soon and start clearing the snow.  Yesterday was a complete wipeout, with show cancelled and snow literally the livelong day once it finally began at ten in the morning.  It was coming down for at least twelve hours.  We didn't get a whole lot, as these things go, but I'm guessing four to five inches average around the property.

So, I must be able to get out of here by noon for our matinee.

After the show there's a pizza party being thrown by one of the cast.  This is new to me, but he did this last year and I've been told by the others that it's not to be missed.  He makes everything from scratch and there are many varieties.  It certainly sounds good.

Today we went on a tour we should have paid for attention to.  The ratings were all great.   It was in reality a glorified zoo though it was advertised as a walk with the lions.  There were a few lions on the other side of a fence :(

So far so good as far as the leg pains go.  I did not sleep well; too many worries about my next eleven days before Social Security lands in my bank account.

Much as I bitch about no work, I do have some Encores! work, thanks to Joshie, and How To Succeed . . .  The issue is cash flow, which is a disaster.

From Yesterday:

Fred:

Good luck with Viva Max! When I saw the poster for the evening of Skips's song in February I asked Skip if it was based on the movie of the same name as I didn't know there was a novel.

Thanks, Michael!

And the movie (which starred Peter Ustinov, John Astin, Jonathan Winters, Pamela Tiffin, Alice Ghostley and many other recognizable folk) had also been based on the Jim Lehrer novel. In one of his talks about the novel, Jim Lehrer has credited the sale of his novel to the movies for having given him and his family the financial freedom to take a chance on a career direction that led to all that happened for him in the TV news business.  Though we've never asked him, I guess that means the amount had to have been  substantial for the late 1960's.

Our musical is based on the novel and not the movie, though, but both the musical and the movie are based on the novel.

Annabelle's had her meds, so I have to catch Thatch.  I caught him about an hour ago and washed out his eyes.  City Vet called me, and his refill is ready.  I will pick it up on my way to the party.  Hopefully, this third round will clear up things.  I've been keeping an eye on Annabelle; I don't want her catching this again.

When I get my Social Security payment, they're going back in for checkups.

Just remembered something.  I meant to answer this a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I never did.

Vixmom:  No, believe it or not, I have NOT yet been to the Texas Roadhouse in Danbury!  But this is the week it happens.  I told Kristi and Nathan that's where they can take me for my birthday -- which isn't till next Friday, but I have shows on the weekend and there's something or other happening on Thursday so we're doing it on Wednesday.  Everybody's schedule is completely nuts this year.  Anyway, I'm looking forward to that, as are they (they haven't been there yet either), and I will have my full report on your desk the next morning.

Annabelle's being very clingy.  After playing on my work table and lying on the papers I'm trying to edit, she seems very happy lying in my arms and watching the world.  I am accomplishing less than I'd like, but I sure do love holding her.

It's interesting, it's an unusual case, but somehow I liked Bess Armstrong even more as a TV personality before she got more glamorous.

The first TV show I saw her on and loved her on - "On Our Own" 1977

DR FJL I sort of remember that tv show....but not much.  I think my dislike of her really stems from a movie she made with Tom Selleck in which she was advertised and played as the "hottest thing" on the screen and next "It Girl."  Then again maybe it was just her hairstyle that annoyed me.

I think that I spoke too soon about being happy that I could still wear my shoes outside. Last night/this morning there was some snow. So I had to wear my boots.  It wasn't that great out (for driving) when I left at 9:45am. But when I came home it was fine.  Unfortunately there is supposed to be a major snow storm on Tuesday. :(

Lovely words from everyone.

I am home from my board meeting - was chosen as the director for BAREFOOT IN THE PARK in September.....auditions in mid July.

We approved the 2018 budget.....talk about all sorts of things....and I told them all how much I appreciated their support and prayers the last nine months.  They were all much prompted to comment and welcome me back.....I was missed, they claim, and now I can't doubt it.

It was a nice evening.  I drove all the way by myself....and drove home in the dark all by myself....so progress is being made.

I am very tired - but happy.

That is wonderful

Chas make sure you call the Roadhouse for call ahead seating, they don't take reservations, but you can call ahead and be put on the waiting  list (they'll let you know the current wait  time for your size party) and you can do your waiting before you get there!

I was going to watch the DVD of the BBC adaptation of Daisy Ashford's The Young Visiters tonight since I've fallen in love with the musical version, but the DVD is split and unplayable.  Back to Netflix tomorrow!

I hate it when that happens!

How did you like the movie, DR George?

We all enjoyed it.  I've never read the book, so I don't know what was changed, but it wasn't the action adventure that I thought the trailer made it out to be, so that was good.  Good performances and great costumes.

Remember those London orchestrations? They were performed this evening in Glasgow by the Royal Scottish National Symphony and I've been told they went well.  Here's a page of the artists involved tonight:

And here's their Facebook page:

They do it all again in Nottingham on Thursday.

Congrats, Larry!

When traveling we hope for nothing bad to happen back home.  Sadly we just learned a dear friend is dying.  Right now I wish we could go to L.A.  :(

I'm so sorry, Jane.
