Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a Friday kind of vibe, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - being Friday they're off observing Lent.
-
And the word of the day is: SUBFUSC!
-
Happy Friday! :D
-
In my DVD burner: many copies of Camelot. ;)
-
In my DVR - last night's episode of "Grey's Anatomy." I was going to watch it after watching "Ugly Betty" (before going to bed now), but I realized that there was an episode that I accidentally deleted. :-\ I want to watch it on-line before I watch last night's episode.
-
Nobody here but us chickens and five GUESTS.
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
I'm tired and yet here I sit like so much fish.
-
I'll have to address that situation:
That Situation
4567 Grecian Urn Way
Anytown, Anystate, USA
-
Good night, all. 8)
-
WOD: I never like to wear any frock that is subfusc.
-
DR Ginny - glad you had a good outcome with your doctor appointment! :)
-
DR Jane - love, love, love the DD Sherlock puppy photos! :D
-
DR Ron Pulliam - thanks for your concern. Thursday night is choir rehearsal night, and I generally don't have access to a computer for a big chunk o' time. This may change if I ever get a cell phone that has Windows Mobile.
-
DR Edisaurus - CONGRATULATIONS on the success of your Closer presentation! :)
-
DR JMK - Pychos R Me! ;)
-
I am MOST bummed that we shall be without DR FJL while he is in Issaquah. :'(
-
I thought his trip to Issaquah had been cancelled? ;)
-
Next up in my DVD player:
ICONS OF ADVENTURE, a 2-disc set of 4 1960s action/adventure movies from Hammer Films: THE DEVIL-SHIP PIRATES, THE PIRATES OF BLOOD RIVER, THE TERROR OF THE TONGS and THE STRANGLERS OF BOMBAY.
The first 3 films feature Christopher Lee.
BTW: I like Joel MaCrea, too, and I thought that THE GUNFIGHT AT DODGE CITY was a total dud...particularly the final gunfight. Terrible script.
-
Might I just ask the following: Why am I up at three in the morning? I've been trying to fall asleep since one. I've got too much going on in the cranium and I think I need to have some dranium of the cranium.
-
One Grecian Urn.
-
Welcome twelve GUESTS. What in tarnation am I doing up at this hour? Then again, what is Druxy doing up at this hour. I guess I could watch some more Mod Squad, but I'd much rather be asleep.
-
Druxy is up because he woke up at 2 am and couldn't get back to sleep.
-
I am currently listening to the recent 2CD Nancy LaMott release of live and studio recordings previously unreleased.
Also I have myIPod on shuffle play, so I never know what will come up. (15500+ tracks to choose from)
-
I thought I was bad with 2500 tracks.
-
And a Good Morning to a bleary eyed BK.
Who I see is still up and on line as I write this.
-
Druxy is now going to go to shut down his computer and try to go back to sleep. Of course, his cat is going to wake him up at 5:30 to feed her, but maybe Druxy can get another hour or so of shut-eye in before that happens.
Isn't it fun talking about yourself in the "third person"?
'Night, all.
-
Shayne, how's bk.com?
-
I thought I was bad with 2500 tracks.
Some of these tracks are books on tape and there of course are many versions of some songs. eg 31 different versions of Send in the Clowns
-
Shayne, how's bk.com?
Well I will update The Brain page with the current show.
Still waiting for the program or a show list from the show from last fall (Menken/Schwartz)
And I will also do an evening primrose page
-
Well I am off to work.
Have a great day all
-
Welcome fourteen GUESTS. I am going to try and get some sleep now. Shhhh.
-
At long last, page two.
-
Fool around with ME, sister.
-
Good morning, all! The bath water looks fine today, so that seems a good omen. This morning, I have brain surgery, followed by a trek to the 42nd Street NYPL Main branch to research in the rare books and manuscripts division. When I return home, hopefully filled with knowledge, I shall update reports, peruse today's mail, and chill out.
Last night, I watched UGLY BETTY, the TOP CHEF rerun of Wednesday night's episode, and STEP IT UP AND DANCE. I'm becoming a Bravo addict, although I must say that hostile lesbian on WORKOUT is hard to take, from her lack of personnel skills to her being one maladjusted employer with narcissistic and control issues.

Is today the day of DR MICHAEL S's announcement? Maybe not.
It is a work day for me. Oh well.
DR EDISAURUS - anniversaries whose counting numbers appear on dated numbers usually mark milestones that are only apparent in hindsight. You have already noted one, but there will be another as the year passes.
Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your bunny rabbit in cowboy hats dream points to situations in your past that you are putting behind you quickly.
-
TOD
DVD: The Disembodied - full theatrical version with the prologue not included on the television broadcast version.
CD: Evening Primrose
VHS: All My Sons
DR TCB - I have wanted to do the show for a long time, and for some reason it was chosen this year, probably because the head of the program committee wants to play one of the leading roles. That's a piss poor reason to choose a show, but that seemed to be the impetus behind the whole season this year.
Hopefully we will sell some tickets, or at least not LOSE any money this year.

Meditation, yoga, tai chi, affirmations and spiritual studies are reinforced as the Moon in Libra trines Neptune in Aquarius (8:30PM PDT). Revelations may be pouring in around this time, but the lunar alignment to Neptune also starts a void time-span that last until 8:00AM PDT tomorrow and the arrival of persistent and hard-driving Scorpio Moon. Keep overnight decision-making to a minimum, but have a notebook nearby to record illuminating dreams and visions.
-
Off to work. Oh well.
-
I had a loverly phone call from my wonderful sister-in-law and chef par excellence Jo, and I look less and less to next week's Ohio trek: my high maintenance niece may be coming in as well for the week, and while I love her, a week is too much to deal with and her mood swings, there may be too many hassles over the property and the brothers' rental plans, which are completely misguided. I'm frustrated as well by their failure to list the property to sell it. I don't understand the procrastination. This week long trip may be shorter than planned.
-
DR elmore3003 - sounds like anything less than relaxing. :-\
-
Morning all. Trouble on the home front (not the literal home front, the office home front) involving information loaded into the database.
Not listening to much because I'm too busy fixing data errors.
Our usual Friday Britcoms this evening and nothing special for Saturday or Sunday.

Gerard Butler is on clearance.

I'm going back to Minnesota (without Anthony since he will be in Wisconsin) in August for a family reunion. We had one in Michigan in August of 2005 and my brother would like to have another one so they are planning that. I was able to get a decent flight so I'm leaving on Thursday August 7th to Minneapolis and returning to New York on Sunday August 10. It's a nonstop from JFK and it only cost $273 on Sun Country Airlines!!!
I now have to decide if I want to rent a car (the cost of a 3 day rental is almost as much as the plane fare). All that time with my family. I don't know if I can do it without getting away by myself for a couple of hours. ;)
-
Oh, and I have taken delivery of my "economic stimulus" check as well. I went to my bank Web site this morning and there it was in my savings account.
Now I have to decide what to do with the windfall.
-
Back to the Salt Mines, or maybe the Dell Web site since I am thinking I may stimulate the economy by purchasing a laptop.
-
Good for you, DR Ben! On both fronts! :)
-
It's too bad the Ant can't go with you to the reunion, though.
-
Friday morning greetings! I have an "in the office" day today, which I really need. Watch for some book recommendations later as I catch up on my review-reading.

I'll take him!
Even if he wants to sing "Music of the Night" to me.

Best friend John is taking the day off today and playing golf, but he invited me to have doughnuts with him this morning, so I was bad and went and had three. Bad, but SO good.

Last night, DR George wrote:

I've never watched any of the hi-def channels in hi-def before...does this happen very often??"
It didn't happen during the East coast broadcast, so I'm guessing this was a West coast screw-up. Yes, it happens occasionally when the network engineer doesn't flip the HDTV switches correctly. You were getting the Dolby 5.1 audio track without the center channel audio, and ABC is the worst network about making this mistake. (They showed almost half of the movie ANNA AND THE KING in HD with the center audio channel turned off). CBS has done it occasionally with the CSI shows, too. Very annoying.
When it happens, I immediately switch to the analog broadcast. If you don't want to give up the HD picture, switch on the closed captioning.

I just reviewed this one, too, Matt. Let me know what you think. Most especially, tell me if your DVD has a weird motion anomaly in some of the fast movement scenes that make it look like occasional frames are missing. I thought perhaps it had been converted from PAL for this reason and got in touch with Romalpalli (sp?), who said it hadn't, but it does this on every DVD player I've played mine on. I'm wondering if I got a poorly authored check disc.

Friday Media Check:
I haven't had much time for mediaing lately, what with the job shift. (Which is going better on some days, worse the immediate days after - at least I'm all caught up for the moment (I think, maybe) and have a day off.)
I've been watching some of the background documentaries on my collection of old Doctor Who DVDs. Not all of the discs have them, but the ones that are there are fairly good, not the fluff pieces they could have been but real detailings of what it took to put on a sci-fi adventure show on a soap-opera budget.

I shall check out this thing called VANJANA.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep an eye out for it. I likely won't do it before THE INVADERS, so it'll be next week, but I'll keep on the lookout for it.

Even though there was no dramatic reveal like past episodes i still cannot wait for teh 2 hour finale in 2 weeks.
There was a lot of very interesting stuff last night. Seeing how the oceanic 6 got home. And watching those interactions. But also seeing how they are all scattered now (they are all separated) makes it more interesting to wonder how they will be the ones to be saved. There was sun and her dad (interesting!). And jack meeting claire's mom and finally realizing claire is/was his sister. And the others taking sayid/kate. And ben giving himself over to the bad men. Looks like a fantastic build-up for the next shows.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And, boy, did I zonk out last night! I guess the full day of travel, coupled with all the pollen and other junk in the air yesterday, ended up tuckering me out more than expected/planned/whatever. In any case, I got a great night's sleep - even though I did have some strange music/audition-related dreams. And since it's now raining, there's not so much stuff in the air today. -It really was sort of surprising just how much pollen was in the air yesterday. When I headed out yesterday afternoon, it took me a couple of minutes to realize why my throat was feeling so scratchy. Thankfully, no runny nose. :)

Thanks, DR George! No, I could not afford that kind of a monthly bill. The plan I have now has unlimited monthly internet access. Which is kind of silly, because I don't use my phone to go online that much. If I could access HHW via my phone, I'd use it a lot more! :)

Got my new Blackberry but my fingers are too uncoordinated (or too pudgy) to simultaneously press the alt key and the letter keys, where there's one key for two letters/numbers. No problem doing the shift and a key, but prospects of easily pressing both the alt and the key are looking grim indeed.
Is this a skill one just acquires with practice, or should I think about getting a Blackberry with bigger keys or more keys (which would be harder to carry, I assume, if it even exists)?

DR FJL - I have had the Blackberry 8830 WorldPhone for about a year now. I find typing with it very difficult. I would like to get a phone that has more clearly delineated/separated keys, or, even better, a phone that has a numeric keypad on the outside and a QWERTY keyboard either on the inside or that slides out. The doubling of the keys for numbers and letters makes the simple dialing of a phone number somewhat challenging.

I guess that means you won't be telling us the secret ;D
I will, DR Jane, just as soon as it's no longer a secret ;)

DR Singdaw-thank you. Our boy is looking very adult these days, its fun to return to his baby pictures.
We hiked earlier than usual this morning and it was alreadyl too hot. Sherlock iis collapsed & panting on the cool bathroom floor.

So...
Being a Jerry Lewis novice...I thought I'd ask here.
Which movies, if any, would you purchase to supplement a set that contains: The Bellboy / Cinderfella / The Delicate Delinquent / The Disorderly Orderly / The Errand Boy / The Family Jewels / The Ladies Man / The Nutty Professor / The Patsy / The Stooge ???

re: your question about what jack said to kate in another episode. I am not sure if we commented on that here. But i think it was sort of obvious that he was referring to him and aaron being related. It was sort of odd though in last night's show that jack did not introduce the baby to his grandma. I guess there was nothing he could do considering the lies that had been told.

I haven't checked yet to see if my recorder picked it up, but if it did, I could burn you a DVD copy. Of course, you can watch it now at nbc.com, too.

In the "I think I'm in the wrong business" department...
I just got a quote for a customer who needs to board a dog, two cats, and two budgies for three days in the UK while she moves from one location to another. The cost to pick up, board, and deliver the pets? $2,100.00 US.

Or maybe you're only expert on the UK. That wouldn't help me.
In any case, I don't even want to THINK about those things today! No! Nada!

Those services are very pricey. It was about half the cost for Craig to travel with his pets than to use a service to transport them. It was about the same cost for me to fly to DC & meet Craig than to use a transport service to get he and the dog to Pittsburgh. Of course one there I spent a small fortune house us but I had a great time :)
-
CONGRATULATIONS on your impending Uncledom, DR MBarnum! :)
I think I'd really enjoy having you as an Uncle. If I were a kid, I mean.
-
DR Singdaw is the company picking up the expense? Even so, if they were my pets I would want to travel on the same plane with them.
Are you responsible for finding a good kennel, or approving the kennel?
-
DR Jane - yes, the employee's company pays the expenses. And no, our reps on the ground in the UK pick the place. I just relay the information. I'm tempted to volunteer to head over there myself and do it. It'd be a blast, and I'd probably save them money!

I'm curious, why can't they keep their pets with them right away? In the States you can stay at a Residence Inn with your pets until you can move into your home.

I think I'm a litbit loopy this afternoon. :P

I'm not sure. I did have a search done for temporary accommodation for them, and none of the vendors with furnished short-term inventory would accept pets. And a minimum rental term, if you go that route, was 6 months. In this case, the transferring employee is selling and purchasing within just a couple of days, so they really only needed a few days in order to get their funiture delivered to the new place and then take the animals back. But you're right, a hotel/motel that accepts pets would be the easiest and cheapest way to go.

I was watching the show from the DVR so it was too late to switch. I tried turning on the subtitles and there were none...at all! None for the entire episode. I don't know if it's my TV, DVR or what, but none of the hi-def shows that I've watched have subtitles. :-\ Not "Lost" or "Grey's Anatomy" from last night, or any.
Are you trying to turn them on through the TV or through the cable box? I believe all these shows are close captioned, so you should try the settings on your cable box. They're there if you can only figure out how to access them.
-
MattH, on second thought I guess I don't need a DVD of THE OFFICE...I can watch it, as you said, on NBC.com, which I will do tonight!!
-
A dvd copy of it would be much to my liking DR Matth!!! I am sure I have some Jeff Richards to send in return.
I'll check to see if it recorded when I go back down later. If it did, I'll dub a copy for you. Do you want me to eliminate commercials or just dub as is?
-
For tonight:
DVD: THE KITE RUNNER
Have you read the book? (I haven't, but it is based on a book.) The film is quite wonderful despite a contrivance or two to enhance the drama.
-
MattH, on second thought I guess I don't need a DVD of THE OFFICE...I can watch it, as you said, on NBC.com, which I will do tonight!!
OK. If you change your mind, let me know. I won't likely get to the show until tomorrow and thus won't erase it until then.
-
I had a full afternoon of viewing enjoyment.
I began with Wednesday night's season finale for CSI: NY. Winding up the "taxi cab killer" story arc was OK drama. Not much mystery since no one had any idea who the killer was; it wasn't a character we had met in some other venue. But it was enjoyable enough.
-
I'd love to know what that said before you edited it, DR elmore3003! :)
Or perhaps not. :)
It was a politically incorrect Polish joke.
DR Ginny, pick up the new Entertainment Weekly; you'll be in heaven.
-
Next I watched last night's SUPERNATURAL. It was the season finale for it, too, and boy what excitement! And a beaut of a cliffhanger for the summer. Great special effects, too. Really as good as I've ever seen on a TV show of the horror genre.
-
Next came Wednesday night's BOSTON LEGAL. The Denny storyline, while ridiculous, had a good capper. The female priest storyline was ludicrous as was the prostitute/Jerry Espinson plot.
-
Next, I cracked open THE INVADERS and got two episodes watched. The pilot episode featured James Daly as best friend to Roy Thinnes (friends of Roy don't tend to last very long on the show). Good, fairly creepy opening episode.
-
The second episode featured Roddy McDowall as a human experiment by the aliens to control mankind through mind control rather than in the conversion units from the pilot. Though Roddy didn't survive, he proved it wouldn't work, so it's back to the drawing board for the aliens.
Ellen Corby and Laurence Naismith were the other guests stars on the episode. Dabbs Greer was featured as a priest (who was an alien).
-
Sometime today my neice Katie and her hubby will be first time parents....and I will be an Uncle, again! ;D
Your new niece/nephew is one lucky kid! :D
-
...
Ginny, pick up the new Entertainment Weekly; you'll be in heaven.
I'll add it to my Barnes & Noble shopping list and stop on my way home from work - in about an hour!
-
Roy Thinnes has filmed an introduction for every episode. We've all aged, of course, but he was SUCH a beauty back then. Those blue eyes are electric, captured in these color episodes.
-
Are you trying to turn them on through the TV or through the cable box? I believe all these shows are close captioned, so you should try the settings on your cable box. They're there if you can only figure out how to access them.
Through my TV...I don't know if my cable box has a "closed captions" option. I've looked through a lot of the options in the set-up, but I don't think I've ever noticed something like that. I will definitely look around tongiht.
-
I am still doing laundry.
I should be doing laundry.
Off to do multiple errands.
-
Have you read the book? (I haven't, but it is based on a book.) The film is quite wonderful despite a contrivance or two to enhance the drama.
Yes, when it first came out, and since then have been telling everyone to read it. Obviously you didn't listen to me ;)
-
Your new niece/nephew is one lucky kid! :D
That's for sure!! Hope all is going well today.
-
Hi everyone!
-
I have spent the day lounging in bed with Pierre of the orange stripey fur.
-
The idea of going to work did not appeal to me as I was not feeling well and the weather outside seemed miserable. I think I made a good decision.
-
I was just researching the symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome.
I don't think I have it.
We joked about this when those ads starting appearing with the completely bizarre side effects (which I, semi-brilliantly I think, said must have meant "urge to gambol"), but an Oregon woman just got off by reason of insanity on a major embezzlement case because she had been taking whatever the big RLS drug is and had gambled hundreds of thousands of dollars away in just a few months.
-
Through my TV...I don't know if my cable box has a "closed captions" option. I've looked through a lot of the options in the set-up, but I don't think I've ever noticed something like that. I will definitely look around tongiht.
Make sure you look under Audio Options if it doesn't have a section to itself.
-

What I discovered with DirecTV is you have to have that option enabled on the DirecTV box itself, not on the TV. Could cable be the same? ??? ???

I think I'd really enjoy having you as an Uncle. If I were a kid, I mean.
I don't think the second, explanatory sentence did you any favors DR sockjaw.
It's still suggestive.

Well today is the day to reveal what I alluded to yesterday because what I was waiting for has arrived in the mail this afternoon.
I am making a major employment change hopefully to start in mid-August. I am leaving Fedex Kinkos (I hope no at work sees this because they don't know it yet) and returning to what I was studying to be when I first met MattH online about 14 years ago.
I am returning to the teaching profession. I have received my letters of eligibility to teach English, Social Sciences & Drama Middle & High School. (Grades 6-12) for the state of Florida.
I only have to take my General Knowledge Test, Professional Education Test and my Subject Area Examinations.
I do not have to take any extra English, Social Sciences or Drama courses. According to my friend who is a teacher this is very rare that one does not have to take additional courses in their Subject Areas.
Now the next step is to get a job interview and my friend is going to help with that.
I will keep you all informed as things progress.
-

I would be VERY shocked if it doesn't have a listing to turn closed captions on or off.
Just another note about cable box settings: my cable box settings used to be on two levels. You had to press the "A" button to get to the second (and for me most important) level of settings.
-
Wonderful news for you, DR Michael Shayne. And I'm sure you'll be able to find a position. The school year here begins every new year with many vacancies, and since you'll be certified in different areas, you'll be open for more positions.
I'm very, very happy for you!

Well, I'm going to write for a little while (a very little while; I've just started on THE INVADERS and haven't really thought out what I want to say about it), and then head downstairs.

DR FJL - I have at least three friends who got Blackberry's with the "compressed" keyboard, only to return them to the store the following day, and get one with a full keyboard. However, I believe the compressed keyboards do have a "T9" option - like cellphones do - that will "guess" words as you type. It took me a while to finally give T9 texting a try, but once I gave it a whirl, I never looked back. *And it's always interesting to see which words have common keypad patterns - like "coal". ;)
-
OH! And on my way back from Starbucks, I also picked up tonight's winning Take Five and MegaMillions lottery tickets.

Here is a home remedy that someone told me about for clearing blocked drains. [I thought long and hard about how to phrase that sentence, given this crowd!] In any case, it is supposed to be less harsh than Drano or Liquid Plummer, and a lot cheaper, too.
Empty approximately 1/3 cup of baking soda into the drain, and follow that with 3/4+ cup of white vinegar. It will fizzle and bubble. Let sit about 10 minutes, then pour a bunch of boiling water down the drain. Repeat as needed.

And Bill Clinton is the only political figure who charges for a speaking engagement?

That was the plan for tomorrow, but I may just stay in bed and hide under the covers.
What good is sitting alone in your room
Come hear the music play
Life is a cabaret, old chum
Come to the cabaret!

Wear? or where?

That's why God inspired clotheslines, frontier woman.

If Fred were here, he'd craft us a turban/Durbin ditty.

Perhaps I'll have to follow it up with "WING SINGS THE CARPENTERS" next. :D
I highly recommend "Wing Sings Dancing Queen."

My men took it down.
Well, then, they'll just have to wear damp clothes (which in your climate will stay damp for about 45 seconds).

It is beyond hot here - finally had to turn the air conditioning on which, of course, is playing havoc with my allergies.
-
Well, I made 2 stops on my way home and didn't find the magazine DR Elmore recommended. I even called him from the bookstore to make sure I was looking for the right thing. Will try again tomorrow, someplace else.
-
Well, DR elmore3003 is right, DR Ginny - when you find it, you're gonna love it! :)
-
DR JoseSPiano - where were you sitting for the Chelsea taping? Were you and DR Cason in the last row, toward the left hand side? Because it almost looked like the back of your head and a teeny glimpse of Cason [on your left?] in the intro to the last segment... Maybe not.
-
Oh, and could you tell if the audience laughter was at all "sweetened" for the broadcast?
-
Well, DR elmore3003 is right, DR Ginny - when you find it, you're gonna love it! :)
What's on/in it??
-
DR brian mentioned finding a new appreciation for Miss Peggy Lee. I have found a new appreciation for Jack Jones. I've been listening, today, to Mr. Jones' 60s' albums, DEAR HEART, LADY, THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM and SHE LOVES ME. I've also listened to Eydie Gorme's DON'T GO TO STRANGERS on my ITunes and IPod.

Good Evening!
Yep, this weather sucks!
I had to run out a little earlier to take care of a few errands - which I should have taken care of earlier in the day, but... In any case...
It is raining, but at least it's not that hard, soak-you-in-five-seconds-rain. However, since it's been going on all day, well... And it's not really supposed to clear up until Sunday, so...
-On the bright side, when I got to Kinko's, all(!!!!) the copiers were working, and only one of them was occupied.
-
It has been a beautiful day here. It is only 93F, and I have had the windows open to let the fresh air in all day.
-
DR Michael S - I am sooooo happy for you and your news!
-
DR elmore - So, is the vocal score for "The Old Maid and The Thief" out of print now? -Or is someone just clearing shelf space?
-

Since it wasn't published by Schirmer, like all Menotti's later successes, I hardly ever see it around.
Ooooooh! GHOST WHISPERER was a bit of a surprise tonight. I liked it. Even set up Mr Mohr's departure for a sitcom next season.
-
DR Michael S - Congratulations!
-Do you know what "level" of students you want to teach? K-5? Middle school? high school?
I can teach grades 6-12
-
Where he lives, everything west of the Hudson is considered Frontier America.

And Pittsburgh is a suburb of New York City. ;)
-
I have completed my cross-training in the Seattle's Best cafe in Borders.
Now I can run the registers AND run the hot water for beverages.
Pretty soon, I'll just run the store. ;)
-

You think it is beautiful and windows need to be opened for fresh air while we are hot and turned on the air conditioner. ;D
-
Thank you all for your kind wishes.
After 9 1/2 years with Kinko's & Fedex Kinko's and 4 years with Blockbuster I strayed way too far from what I really wanted to do. I got in a comfort zone, but I realize I wanted to do what I believe I was meant to do. With the encouragement of two friends who are teachers I am going for it.
And I just might go for my masters degree in English or Drama.
-
DR Michael S.....
CONGRATULATION AND BEST WISHES FINDING A WONDERFUL NEW JOB!!!
-
What's on/in it??
DR George, I think Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha are on the cover.
-
TURBAN COWBOY - my new musical about...oh wait, I think we've done that one alreday
-
Michael S, we have a good friend who returned to school for his teaching degree at 50. He loves it. The combination of age & life experiences along with the enthusiasm of a new teacher is a great combination. His students think he is wonderful. I'm sure you will be very happy, and the benefits are nice too.

Re: The Tony Awards
Since Stephen Sondheim is getting a special Tony do you think they will do anything special on the Broadcast portion. (Other than numbers from the nominated revivals of Gypsy and Sunday in the Park With George)
Sort of what they did 20 years ago when they did tributes to Jerry Herman, Kander/Ebb and Sondheim all in one show? (They were all nominated that year)
-
Rob's girlfriend is on the costume crew for CCM's
La Boheme (http://www.uc.edu/news/NR.asp?id=8328)
DR Elmore - do you remember when we saw this there back in the late 1970's?
-
DR George, I think Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha are on the cover.
Ahh...thanks.

that's the Entertainment Weekly which appeared in my mailbox today. . . ;)

But not yet on newsstands, DR td!
Actually, that depends on who the newsstand's distributor is. . .and how often the employees shelve magazine once they arrive. Often, Borders will have the latest issue of the weeklies on the stands late Thursday night. . .EW was on the racks when I went to work this morning.
-
Well, it's time for me to head home. Until later!
-
I got me some hi-def Sci-fi TV watchin' to do. :D

There is something planned (hush, hush), but as to whether or not it will make it to the broadcast portion of the ceremony remains to be determined.
-
Congratulations to DR MICHAEL S on his wonderful news.
DR LAURA - continued "okay" to you.....and of course now DR GINNY has a secret!
So many things happening.....free goodies for DR MBARNUM at the concert....DR FJL on his way to Issaquah....DR BEN planning for a family reunion!
The excitement NEVER ends here at HHW.
I liked THE OFFICE last night, some unexpected things happened, and some expected things DIDN'T happen....and the final tag moment was a great lead in to a LOT of complications next season!
-
DR JOSE, should I have my tap shoes ready?
-
Well, DR JRand, I know a secret, but it's not really mine.
-
So tired from lack of sleep. I'm watching a motion picture on DVD.
-
Will we never get to page eleven? Will I eat some rice pudding with whipped cream? Answer the second question first.
-

OK, DR td, I'll try Border's on my way home from work tomorrow!
'night, everybody!
-
Bruce if you have the pudding & whipped cream in the house, my guess is you will eat it. ;D
-
Ginny did you find anymore books to suggest?
-
Coleslaw, did you have to look up Issaquah on Google?
Hell, I know Issaquahans that need to look up Issaquah on Google. ;D
-
'night

DR LAURA - continued "okay" to you.....
Thanks. Turns out, it wasn't my fault.
-
Well...
As promised, here is a sample of the final candidates for my 8x10s.

I'm actually sort of surprised we were able to get a decent number of good shots to choose from considering the whole shoot was basically impromptu. If you'd like to see the other 'finalists', I've set up a PhotoBucket Album (http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/JoseSPiano/My%208x10s/?action=view¤t=b852212c.pbw). They still need to be cropped, color-corrected, touched-up, etc., but I think you'll get the picture - literally. ;) Any feedback would be appreciated.
-
Oh... maybe I'll resize those pics...
-
Done and done.
-
DR Michael S - Congratulations!
-Do you know what "level" of students you want to teach? K-5? Middle school? high school?
From his post, he said he'd be certified to teach 6-12 in three fields. I had the same certification when I taught.
-
MattH probably knows for sure, but I thought CC was encoded right into the broadcast signal.
It is. It's always available if the broadcasters put it there in the first place, and I'm pretty sure every network program has it.
-
Hmm... I don't think I ever really fully woke up today... Hmm.. ???
-
What a full evening of entertainment I've had tonight.
I began with two episodes of THE INVADERS. Arthur Hill was the best known guest star in the two I watched before prime time TV.
-
DR Jose has a new avatar, and I like it very much.
-
Yes, GHOST WHISPERER had a smashing season finale full of surprises, and I'll bet with all the crying, it'll be Jennifer Love Hewitt's Emmy submission reel.
-
And, of course, my heart ached long and deep after watching the last-ever MOONLIGHT.
Terrific show filled with wonderful character drama, good action, and a final scene that just BREATHED romance.
-
DR Jose has a new avatar, and I like it very much.
Thanks. That was actually one of the test shots - it's a bit blurry "full size", but reduced down to 110x150 pixels, it looks just fine. ;)
-
I concluded my evening watching another episode of THE INVADERS. Louise Latham was one of the guest stars on the program where David prevented the aliens from creating new aliens in an aquarium. Yes, he knew something was fishy. . . . :o
-
I still have SMALLVILLE, THE OFFICE, EARL, and CSI to watch at some point over the weekend.
-
Finished on motion picture on DVD. May watch another, may not. Ten minutes before the film ended the power in the den and the guest bathroom went out again. Very irksome. Called my Handy Man and he directed me out to the breaker box outside, where one of the breakers needed to be switched off and then on - then the electricity came back, but clearly there is still some sort of problem and he'll be coming back out a week from tomorrow to attend to it.

If you're tripping a circuit breaker, you might try unplugging a thing or seventeen. ;D

There is a book by that title by Kermit the Frog / Jim Henson

I'm feeling very tired, logey, full, and rather disgusting. Otherwise, things are grand.

Yes... Semester ended overa week ago. However, we have been very short staffed and our summer student help do not come until next week.
I have been running all week.
-
DBF has Laryngitis..... The poor dear... I do feel his pain!
-
Laura, when I was Utah they had the cherry MnM's.... They just started selling them up here. I am not impressed with them. I would love for them to bring back the Mint 3 Mousketeer bars and mint MnMs again. Those are good
-
And I feel full and disgusting and logey
Homely as Borgnine but sexy as Bogey
But alive
But alive
But alive

I've seen the mint Three Musketeers bars, but I didn't buy any.

I like them... I love dark chocolate .
I will pass on the Cherry MnMs... I was not impressed
