RAMBLING ROSE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the fifth symphony of Takashi Yoshimatsu, a Japanese composer from Japan. I’m really enjoying his music, especially the fourth and this one and I’ve already heard enough of this sixth to know I like it. Then it’s on to his orchestral pieces. Other than that, it wasn’t much of a day or evening other than things are starting to be stressful again in very stressful ways, which cause stress. I do not care for page seven, and I do not care for stress on any page or life in general. Symphony six has just begun and it’s very peaceful – it’s called Birds and Angels, and couldn’t we all use some of the former to sing for us and the latter to watch over us? I’m feeling a little gross right now – ate some chips with melted cheese and salsa and even thought it was mild salsa it really wasn’t THAT mild. Some of this music reminds me a bit of Claus Ogerman. I watched no motion picture last night – just couldn’t find anything that appealed to me. The Zoom thing with David Wechter is pushed until Monday. I did have a brief telephonic conversation with Muse Margaret – wanted to run a little adjustment by her – just changing four words to make it a little less specific than it is, which I felt would help that particular sentence and she agreed. Here’s what would help the stress situation: a modern major miracle or three, a neck rub, a head rub, a foot rub. I also noticed that it’s almost the end of January. This month has flown by, like a gazelle having a pedicure on a rainy day. I do not need a pedicure or a manicure or even a womanicure.  I do those because I like fingernails and toenails a certain way and they like me a certain way. I was looking for a book earlier and thought for sure I’d used my signed copy of But He Doesn’t Know the Territory for a perk, but I guess I didn’t. Happy to still have it. My hair is so unkempt right now it’s not even funny. And I haven’t heard from Lydia the hair person about when her hand will be better. I look like a crazed old Jew – oh, wait, I AM a crazed old Jew. Now playing – When a Bird Dreams of Moonbeams – for clarinet, cello, piano, and harp. Apparently, this composer has a thing for birds as they figure in many of the titles he assigns to his pieces. Has anyone noticed that I am rambling? I seem to be rambling but that’s better than gambling. I just a rambling rose right now. Oh, I got about seven hours of sleep. Oh, and I had tuna sandwiches on bagels. Oh, I answered e-mails. I think that’s all the “Oh” things.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I have to decide whether I’ll just proof this book on the computer or whether I’ll print out a copy here and three-hole punch it, or whether I’ll take it somewhere to print. Decisions, decisions. I’ll do whatever needs doing, then I’m dining with Marshal Harvey and then we’re attending an opening night. I’m told the play runs under ninety minutes in one act – that’s a good thing. There’ll be a little partay after, but I’m sure we won’t stay long. Then I’ll come home and write some notes.

Tomorrow, I have no plans other than to proof either a hard copy or on the computer. Same goes for Sunday. Then on Monday I’ll Zoom with David Wechter and there are lot of things going on next week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, decide whether to print out the book or proof on the computer, do whatever needs doing, dine with Marshall Harvey, attend an opening night, come home, and the rest you know. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and you DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player? I’ll start – I have no idea. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, amazed that I was a rambling rose.
