Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news – it is not only the final day of October, it is Halloween, a time of trick and/or treat, hobgoblins, goblins with hobs, and a 70, Girls, 70 rehearsal, which we, of course, hope will be the LEAST scary Halloween event. Not only that, it will be a new month on the ‘morrow, a little month I like to call November, and it is my fervent hope and prayer that November will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. And miraculous miracles for all, especially for our little theatrical event. I won’t be home for the trick or treaters, so perhaps I’ll leave the porchlight off so they don’t waste time coming to the door. Not that we have many folks trick or treat in this neighborhood. I wish I could tell you I watched something other than irritating YouTube videos and some interesting fast food videos and even a Costco video about what to buy and not buy at Costco. I also watched the unedited Sondheim interview videos from the PBS Jerome Robbins documentary, and that was interesting in certain ways, although he told the same stories in the exact same way that he always tells. I also did not listen to any music at all because what was supposed to be a do-nothing-at-all ME day was anything but. I did have many telephonic conversations and I spent two long hours going through the script and marking the places where we need to pick up the pace and how to make the transitions seamless from scene to scene and stuff like that. I think all the suggestions will be beneficial to the cast. I did manage to get eight hours but was up for two hours from four to six due to the donut I ate not sitting well in the tummy. I got up at noon, answered e-mails, lots of e-mails, had the telephonic conversations, ordered Pad Thai for food, ate Pad Thai, was full from Pad Thai, made the script notes, watched the videos, tried to find something else to watch and failed and dozed off for about twenty minutes. And a half hour ago, I was hungry so I got a little cheeseburger from nearby Fatburger – very good and hit the spot. I don’t actually get the Fatburger, I get the burger with thousand island dressing and bacon. The normal Fatburger has relish, and I do not care for relish, I do not relish relish and that’s all there is to it. It’s not In ‘N’ Out but it’s not bad. Interestingly, In ‘N’ Out is on none of the delivery services. And that was pretty much the day and evening according to my very own self.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, then I have to be at the theater at three to see the costumes for the show, then I’ll go have food after that, then come back for our rehearsal, where we’ll continue running act two and drilling scenes. We’ll go right back to act one when we’re done and do the same and hopefully the more we do that, the more stuff will begin to stick for the cast. I’ll come right home after rehearsal to relax.
The rest of the week is more of the same, I’ll dry tech on Friday, we’ll do a straight-through run on Friday night, we have a stizprobe on Saturday morning and then we begin tech with the cast and while I hope we don’t go until ten, if we have to, we will. Sunday, I’m hoping we can get two runs in.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m ups, do whatever needs doing, see costumes, eat, rehearse, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What is your favorite Halloween memory and costume? And what will you be doing for THIS Halloween? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, dreaming of hobgoblins and candy and the last of October.
