Well, dear readers, it was kind of a slow Indiegogo third day, which I’ve found has proven to be the case with almost all the campaigns we’ve done, save for the one where we had a really low goal that funded in four days. The fact is, if this was the usual 7500 campaign we’ve done before, we’d be at 90% of our goal. So, we’re doing fine so far and I’m hoping in the next few days we can get the percentage up closer to 50% – if we do, I’ll feel fairly confident we’ll reach our goal. We did go up from yesterday, percentage-wise, to 35%, so hopefully today we’ll go up some more because – we can DO this. Puuuuuush. I did put up several fun new perks yesterday, so check ‘em out. I may also put up a private perk, one that isn’t public and that you need a link to get to – haven’t done that before and thought it might be fun. Anyway, we’re over $7,000 now and that’s in less than three days. Here’s the handy-dandy link and, as always for you dear readers, if you love something but it’s too pricey, just drop me a private message and tell me what’s comfortable and we’ll see what we can do, oh, yes, we’ll see what we can do.
I began watching a new documentary six-episode series on the Flix of Net entitled Web of Make Believe, about lies, misinformation, and deceit on the Internet. I’m three episodes in and it’s quite good, although there are the usual reenactments that I’m not that fond of. Each episode is about a different kind of lie or misinformation or deception. The first is the most irritating in terms of really hating the morons who do the bad stuff, in this case, moron teens without any social skills or sense or right and wrong. Gamers, people who never leave their houses, whose whole identity is the Internet. The “star” of this episode, someone who’s currently serving twenty years in jail after already having served two on a prior arrest, was responsible for endless bomb threat fake calls, which he did just so he could see them on the Internet and then take credit. And as if that weren’t bad enough, he did what was called Swatting – he’d call 911 and report an emergency that required the Swat team to go somewhere. He thought it was funny. Then he did it to get even with someone, and the someone gave him an old address and the swat team showed up and ended up killing an innocent, unarmed man. These kids don’t really feel remorse at all. They have no feelings. They don’t live in the real world. It’s nauseating. The subsequent two episodes were equally interesting, one about a killing in Washington where the conspiracy idiots lied constantly about who did what and why – Fox News was sued for their lying but the day before witnesses were to testify, they suddenly settled the case, so they didn’t have to go to court, which is typical. It’s lie after lie after lie and people see and hear the endless lies and end up believing them, even though they’re ultimately proven to be completely untrue. The third episode is about a gal who gets sucked into the world of the alt right and white supremacy. Thankfully, she got out of it and ended up testifying against these creeps. But all these episodes prove just how easily people believe what they see on YouTube. In fact, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole watching romance scammer videos, where vulnerable and needy women are contacted on dating sites by people pretending to be who they aren’t – and these women are taken for hundreds of thousands of dollars – it’s apparently a billion-dollar industry and nothing ever happens to the scammers. But the fact that all these women fall for it, are taken in by it, and then keep giving money over and over again while the stories from their scammers get more ludicrous with every turn is just shocking.
Yesterday was a Friday, that much we know. I did finally get eight hours of sleep. Upon arising, I saw we’d gone up a percentage point, so that was good, and then it was the usual cheerleading, although Facebook is doing its damndest to make sure no one sees the posts – if they don’t get a piece, they don’t want YOU to get a piece. It’s nauseating. When we did the early campaigns, we never dealt with that kind of stuff. I wish there were other platforms but there just aren’t. I don’t even know how to cut and paste the address into an Instagram post. I’ve tried, but it never seems to work and it’s really hard doing that on the iPhone.
I ordered from an Eyetalian deli in Encino that I’ve had my eye on – two sandwiches – one salami and provolone for lunch, one Eyetalian cold cuts for dinner. They were both very good, but I preferred the simple salami and provolone. Then I did the cheerleading thing, but I knew it just wasn’t getting to enough people thanks to Mr. Zuckerberg. I will not be deterred however, do you hear that you greedy little twit, Mr. Zuckerberg? Hear it, believe it. Then I began watching the documentary and now I’m writing these here notes, after which I’ll watch one more episode and then get to bed, as I must be up early for the arrival of she of the Evil Eye.
Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine. I’ll go have a light something or other somewhere, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll do stuff, and then I’ll come home and cheerlead and perhaps put up a secret perk for secret people in a secret place. That will be the day and evening and I’m sure I’ll finish this documentary.
Tomorrow and all next week will be more cheerleading and trying to get us to the 50% mark. We must, we simply must and there are no two or even three ways about it.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine, I’ll eat something light, hopefully pick up packages, return home, cheerlead, finish a documentary, cheerlead, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What’s the scariest thing that’s happened to you on the scary Internet? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, always happy to go up any percentage point, even on a slow day at the Indiegogo corral.
