ME TIME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the two weeks of ME time has officially begun and so far I’ve been enjoying ME time by spending time with ME. But I must not dally or tarry, I must write these here notes in a hurry for I must be up early tomorrow, as I’ll be finessing the Kay mixes. So, let’s get this train moving, shall we?

Yesterday was a nice little day. I got seven hours of sleep and thankfully the hammerers were in absentia. Once up, I did the usual morning stuff and then I moseyed on over to Casa Vega to have a belated birthday lunch with dear reader Jeanne. I had my usual two cheese enchiladas and a beef taco, we shared some guacamole, and had nice conversation, as one always has with dear reader Jeanne. Then I picked up a couple of packages and came home.

I made a couple of song decisions, had some telephonic conversations, went back to the mail place to get the package they forgot to give me, listened to yet more music but still took a break from both Sibelius and Rachmaninov. I’ll return to those two crazy kids later this afternoon. After that, I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Whilst sitting on said couch, I listened to an SACD, dozed off for a bit, then watched a documentary on the Flix of Net entitled For the Love of Spock, made by the son of Leonard Nimoy. It was a little long but I enjoyed it. After that, I played on the computer whilst listening to various and sundried music.

I keep reading how they’re rebooting all this TV stuff for today’s generation – let me just say that I don’t care about today’s generation and their inability to just enjoy shows of the past (unless, of course, it’s a hipster thing), and speaking of reboot, I think it’s time to reboot the word reboot, don’t you? I’ve read about reboots of The Honeymooners, All in the Family, and others – once again, Hollywood eats itself. End of reboot rant.

Today, I shall be up by nine, and we do our finessing of the Kay mixes at eleven. I’m not anticipating it will take more than two hours tops. I just want to hear it on John’s speakers, I want to do a little work on the piano sound on two tracks, and I want to just finesse the balance between voice and piano on a few tracks. I’m basically very happy with it. Kay has it but can’t hear it until tomorrow night. After we finish, I may go have some kishka at Lenny’s Deli – I’ve had a craving that must be satisfied, or I need to reboot my craving. Then I’ll come back to the Valley, hopefully pick up some packages, then I’ll relax, listen to music, and watch a motion picture of some sort.

Tomorrow, I’m seeing the matinee of Merrily We Roll Along, in which our very own Sandy Bainum appears. Then, if time permits, I may see an evening performance of a play I’ve been asked to see – but it may be too tight, since Merrily, I’m told, runs close to three hours. We shall see. This coming week we’ll be shipping The Gang’s All Here on Monday, have to do a Costco run, maybe even today, and then it’s just relaxing, choosing songs, and not doing much of anything until it’s time for the annual Kimmel Christmas Eve Do.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finesse mixes, eat kishka, maybe do a Costco run, hopefully pick up packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are the weirdest foodstuffs you’ve ever eaten? The most exotic dishes and things you perhaps thought you’d never try? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to now have nothing but ME time for two whole weeks.
